How to use hand stretch film correctly
High pre-tension during application
To ensure optimal transport protection, it is crucial to pre-stretch hand stretch film properly during application. Unfortunately, this step is often overlooked due to a lack of awareness or convenience.
Pre-stretching creates restoring forces, as the film naturally tries to return to its original, unstretched state. This force allows the film to firmly mould itself around the load, ensuring high pallet stability. Properly applied hand stretch film is ideal for transport packaging and pallet security.
Top and bottom wrapping – essential for load stability
The correct wrapping technique plays a key role in transport safety. A foot wrap (bottom wrap) and head wrap (top wrap) are essential, yet often neglected.
Foot wrapping (bottom wrap)
This is the most critical part of the wrapping process, as it prevents the load from shifting on the pallet. If the film only secures the goods but not the pallet itself, stability is compromised.
- Start wrapping at the base of the pallet, securing the film if needed.
- Overlap the film well above the pallet base and first layer of goods.
- Apply at least four tight wraps with high tension for maximum hold.
Head wrapping (top wrap)
Repeating this process at the top of the pallet adds extra stability. A strong head wrap ensures that the goods remain secure and compact throughout transport.

As a result, they are thinner, firmer, and have less stretchability compared to conventional films.

Custom prints can include logos, company names, warning labels, or any other advertising message you desire. The printing can be done in a wide range of colours, with Pantone or RAL colour matching available.
Once you place an order for custom printing, we’ll send you a proof for approval before proceeding with the print.
Tip: For optimal contrast and print quality, we recommend choosing white film for your printed stretch film.
Custom printing is available only on one side of the film, as a two-sided print would not be effective for pallet wrapping.
