What is a garbage sack?

Garbage sacks are flat or gusseted sacks with a welded seam on one narrow side (the closed side). Three sides are always closed, with the opposite side open. Refuse sacks are made of polyethylene, usually from recycled material (polyethylene, LDPE, MDPE, HDPE), biodegradable material, or paper.

Garbage sack or garbage bag? At what size do we start using the term 'garbage sack'?

We classify larger bin liners as 'garbage sacks' when their dimensions exceed 600 x 800 mm or 575 x 1000 mm. Smaller waste bags are classified as 'bin liners' in our online shop, based on width, length, and volume.

What sizes of garbage sacks are there?

Unfortunately, there are very few standards for bin liners in Germany. Additionally, some suppliers refer to actual sizes (dimensions in millimetres), while others refer to litres or capacity/volume. The dimension 700 x 1100 mm, representing the typical and well-known blue 120-litre bin liner, is by far the most widely used size worldwide.

In general, any size, dimension, or shape of PE bag is possible, as we can accommodate any special request or custom size for our customers. Whether large, jumbo, small, XXL, or extra-large bags; whether rectangular or square; whether 50 litres, 100 litres, 200 litres, 300 litres, 400 litres, 450 litres, 500 litres, 600 litres, 2000 litres, 3000 litres, etc.; or whether 800 x 1000 mm, 800 x 1100 mm, 800 x 1200 mm, 900 x 1100 mm, or 900 x 1200 mm, we fulfil every customer request. What does ‘type XX’ mean?

In the waste sack sector, type designations are often misleading for potential buyers. This is often because some suppliers are reluctant to disclose the actual film thickness.

The terms Type 50, Type 60, Type 70, Type 80, and Type 100 may be used to indicate that the bags have film thicknesses of 60 µm, 70 µm, 80 µm, and 100 µm. However, be cautious, as this is rarely the case.

We do not conceal the thickness and always disclose any information that is important for the customer's purchase decision. We recommend that every buyer refrain from purchasing based on type designation alone and instead always ask for the actual film thickness in micrometers (µm or micron). Otherwise, you're comparing apples and oranges.

What thicknesses are garbage sacks available in?

We have large bin liners in stock with thicknesses ranging from 28 µm to 100 µm. Bin liners between 28 µm and 36 µm (Type 60) are typically used for lighter waste, while thicknesses from 45 µm (Type 70) to 68 µm (Type 100) are used for medium-heavy waste. Our strongest bags, at 100 µm, are often used by construction and road maintenance companies.

What does colourless translucent, translucent coloured and opaque mean?

Opaque means that the film is almost non-transparent. The film is coloured as intensively as possible during production.

Colourless translucent means the film is transparent but not completely clear and see-through. This is often the case with colourless waste sacks. A waste bag is usually produced with LDPE regenerate (recycled material, regranulate). These recycled materials are typically not made from 100% transparent granules, so the colouring is often slightly grey-translucent. However, you can still see through the film and observe the contents of the bags.

Film bags with a low colour content are called translucent coloured bags. Transparent granulate is used, along with a small proportion of coloured raw materials. The result is a bin liner with a faint colour. The intensity of the colouring can be predetermined.

What designs are available for polyethylene garbage sacks?

In addition to the normal, conventional garbage sacks, we also offer sacks with the following special properties:

• Compostable, decomposable residual bin liners
• Garbage sack with drawstring / drawstring sacks (closure for tightening and knotting)
• Garbage sack with tie band (closure with tie band)
• Garbage bag with odour/scent, such as rose scent, lemon scent and so on (added to the raw material during production)
• Reusable sacks / fabric sacks / heavy duty sacks (due to very high film thickness)

Have your garbage sacks printed

Of course, we can also print on LDPE bags. Whether it's a logo, company logo, your inscription, a warning print, labelling, or other advertising prints – we can make it happen.

You can choose whether your custom print should be one-sided or two-sided (double-sided). You also have the freedom to choose the number and selection of print colours. Your print can be monochrome, multicoloured, or photorealistic. Our print office can fulfil your colour requests using Pantone and RAL colours.

The print can be customised exactly according to your wishes and specifications. Once you are certain of the print you want and the order has been placed, you will always receive a print approval (proof) before production begins, allowing you to review all details.

Tip: Avoid choosing blue bags for printing; instead, opt for lighter shades, as the contrast is more effective.

Customised printing is not the only option. We can also supply PE bags printed with a recycling logo/symbol. This simple print is usually free of charge.

Are garbage sacks also available in special sizes?

Of course, we can also provide dimensions and thicknesses manufactured exactly to your requirements. We also offer printed bin liners, available with one or two-sided printing, on a roll or loose in a box. As a rule, we can deliver almost any type of large bin liner, printed or unprinted, within 4 to 5 weeks.

Are PE sacks UV-resistant?

No, normal LDPE films and LDPE bags are not UV-stable for long. Films without additional UV protection have a shelf life of about 3 months outdoors.

PE films and products with UV additives, however, are highly weatherproof, cold-resistant, frost-proof, and UV-resistant. The main enemy is clearly the sun and UV radiation.

But, we wouldn't be film experts if we couldn't address this issue. Do you need UV-stable plastic bags? We will be happy to provide a solution. You can choose a durability of up to 3 years with a UV guarantee.

Are garbage bags food-safe?

No. All garbage sacks are generally made from recycled LDPE material. Contact with food is not permitted, especially for products made from recycled materials. Bags made from recycled material are, of course, produced very cheaply, making them ideal for waste and rubbish disposal. However, they are not suitable for food packaging.

Bags made from new polyethylene (1A quality) are used for food packaging.

Are garbage sacks environmentally friendly?

Yes, our bin liners are made from recycled film waste. The film waste is processed into granulate, which is then used to make the new film for the bin liners. This film is used to produce environmentally friendly bin liners.

Do you also offer large transparent garbage bags for polystyrene waste?

We stock two different sizes of 1,000-litre bags and one size of 2,500-litre bags, which are usually in stock. The two 1,000-litre bags each have a thickness of 60 µm and are ideal for the disposal of polystyrene and film waste. Our largest bag, for approximately 2,500 litres, has a thickness of 80 µm and is also ideal for this type of waste.

Wrapping and packaging

Residual waste bags are available in a wide variety of packaging options.

What are garbage sacks suitable for?

Waste bags are suitable for disposing of the following waste:

Bin liners can be used for waste separation (using different coloured bin liners), collection, storage, and disposal. No matter how heavy or sharp-edged your waste is, a practical solution can be found.

Waste sacks make waste disposal and management much easier and also protect the environment, as they are extremely stable, tear-resistant, and puncture-proof despite their thin walls. The volume of waste generated by refuse sacks is therefore minimal in relation to the capacity of the residual waste sacks.
