What are plate bags?

A plate bag is a rectangular, tear-resistant bag made of coated polypropylene. The sewn plate bags are used for the disposal of building materials containing asbestos.

What is the purpose of plate bags?

Plate bags provide airtight and dustproof packaging for hazardous, toxic and asbestos-containing materials. During transportation to the disposal company, measures are in place to protect individuals from harmful and toxic influences.

How many plates can a plate bag hold?

Depending on the size, composition and weight of the plates, experience has shown that a plate bag can hold around 12-18 Eternit plates or asbestos plates.

What is the load capacity of plate bags?

Standard plate sacks have a load capacity of up to 1,500 kg (SWL 1500 kg).

What types of plate sacks are available?

Circumferential apron:

All plate sacks are fitted with a circumferential apron. It serves to seal the filled sacks securely and dust-tight.

Closure loops and closure straps:

The loops and straps offer the possibility to close the sacks professionally and quickly.

Lifting loops:

There are four lifting loops on the long sides of the bags for easy transport with forklift trucks and/or cranes.

Arcade loops:

Arcade loops, which are also used for transport, are used as an alternative to lifting loops.

What material are plate bags made of?

Our asbestos bags are made of white, coated polypropylene ribbon fabric. The seams are made of extremely strong sewing threads. The loops are also made of durable PP (polypropylene).

Are plate bags UV-resistant?

Yes, the plate bags are UV-resistant. However, they are only suitable for long-term outdoor storage to a limited extent, as the technical values are reduced over time under the influence of UV radiation. The PP fabric of our sacks is enriched with UV additives during production. This gives the sacks a UV resistance of 150 KLY (kilolangley). Technical terms and their meaning regarding plate bags

SWL - is the abbreviation for Safe Working Load. It means nominal load, load capacity or carrying capacity.

SF - is the abbreviation for Safety Factor. SF 5:1 means, for example, that the bag may only be filled once, i.e. it is a single-use bag. SF 6:1 can be used as a reusable bag after careful inspection.

Circumferential apron - the apron is sewn onto the opening of the sack and is used to close the plate sack securely and tightly.

Lace fastening - use the lace fastening to close / knot the opening of the plate sacks.

Arcade loops / lifting loops - are used to transport the bags safely, for example with a forklift truck.

Coated PP material - when disposing of asbestos, it is necessary to use absolutely leak-proof packaging. Therefore a coated fabric or a PE inner bag / liner is required.

Printing / warning prints on plate bags

The plate bags for the disposal of fibre cement plates containing asbestos have the following imprint in four languages (German, English, French and Dutch):

Caution: contains asbestos. Inhalation of asbestos fibers is hazardous to health. Follow safety instructions. Keep container closed.

We always have sufficient quantities of standard sized plate bags in stock for you. Orders received by 12 p.m. on working days are usually dispatched from our warehouse on the same day.

Customised products have a delivery time of around 6 to 14 weeks, as the goods are mainly imported from Asia and non-EU countries.

We ship smaller quantities throughout Europe by parcel service / DHL at very favourable shipping conditions. Larger quantities are also delivered to our customers throughout Europe by our own forwarding agent. Of course, collection from our site in 72770 Reutlingen is also possible by prior arrangement. Where is asbestos commonly used?

Asbestos can often be found in old buildings. Roof plates, roof coverings, façade panels or façades containing asbestos were commonly used in the past. In kitchens, asbestos (often in the form of sprayed asbestos) can be found in electric cookers and ovens. Asbestos was also used for insulation and moisture protection in pipework, as well as for fire protection against heat. Asbestos can also be found in older sanitary pipes, window seals and other joints. Its use has been banned throughout the EU since 2005.
