What Is a Round Bale Net?
Round bale nets are fine-threaded nets made from polyethylene, more precisely high-density polyethylene (HDPE). The fine, very stable and robust tapes are first cut from HDPE film, which are then woven and produced from so-called warp and weft threads to form the actual bale net. Round bale wrapping nets are produced on rolls with large running metres so that they are very efficient and require as few roll changes as possible during processing.
Applications of Round Bale Nets: Agriculture
As the name suggests, these wrapping nets are mainly used for the production of round bales in the agricultural sector. Bale nets are suitable for round bales with the biomaterials such as silage, haylage, hay, straw and other baled material. The wrapping net is processed using balers such as round balers or baling presses. The wrapping net is wrapped several times around the round sides of the bale, ensuring the stability of the round bales.
Silage and haylage bales should always be wrapped airtight with agricultural stretch film after baling. Hay bales and straw bales are ready for storage and transport after baling and wrapping.
Round bales are produced in different diameters and sizes. Of course, we offer all types of netting. We also always have unusual items in stock. You can find nets for normal round bales as well as for mini round bales in our shop.
Applications of Mini Round Bale Nets: Firewood and Timber Packaging
Wrapping net is also ideal for packaging firewood. The split and sawn wood is packed on pallets in narrow, 600 mm wide wrapping nets. The net offers the user significant advantages:

UV Resistance
Of course, all our bale nets are highly UV-stable and UV-resistant. The integrated UV protection ensures durability of at least 12 months under Western European conditions.
You won't find netting without UV protection here. While some suppliers offer slightly cheaper options without UV stabilisation (often targeted for silage bales), the risk of confusion and misuse is too great.
If a non-UV-resistant net were mistakenly used for hay or straw, the plastic could become brittle and fragile after just a few months.
Always ensure your round bale net is UV-stabilised. HDPE plastics are also naturally frost- and cold-resistant, making them ideal for outdoor agricultural use.
Widths of Round Bale Nets
As mentioned earlier, dm-folien offers a truly unique variety of bale net widths. While most suppliers limit their range to 123–130 cm, we provide every width – even unusual or specialised sizes.
Mini round bale nets in 50 cm, 60 cm, 67 cm, 80 cm, and 100 cm are standard stock items and always available. If a new baler model requires a different size, we will quickly add it to our range.

How Many Wraps Are Required?
The number of wraps depends on the material being baled. Under normal weather conditions, we recommend the following:

Colours of Our Bale Nets
The colour of the net itself is not important for quality, but it can help with handling.
- Our AGRIplus brand nets are white with a coloured edge marking. This edge helps you insert the net correctly into the round baler and prevents mistakes when loading.
- OCTAnet Comfort nets are yellow/green with green side stripes.
- Ulith Protector nets are yellow/white with green side stripes.
All our bale nets are marked in colour on the last 100 m, so you always know when a roll is nearly finished.
While many colours exist on the market, the net colour has no impact on quality.
