What Is Foam Film?
Foam film is an extruded material made of foamed, non-crosslinked polyethylene. Thanks to its closed-cell structure, the surface of the foam film is completely sealed, waterproof, and dustproof. It provides reliable and complete protection for your products against damage and contamination. Due to its special production process, foam film is extremely soft, flexible, and elastic.
PE foam film is supplied on rolls in an unfolded state, typically wound onto cardboard cores with a diameter of 76 mm. Each roll is packed in a sturdy PE bag.
What Is Foam Film Made of?
Foam film is made from LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene). It is produced without the use of CFCs or HCFCs. Polyethylene is an environmentally friendly, sustainable, non-toxic, and odourless plastic that can be recycled multiple times. Thanks to its high stability and toughness, products made of polyethylene can be produced with extremely thin walls, making them lightweight and material-efficient. This significantly increases sustainability and environmental balance compared to other products.
What Is PE Foam Film Used For?
Foam film is a versatile and flexible product. PE foam film is used in packaging, during relocation, and in construction as impact sound insulation. Our foam films are also used for basic insulation against noise and temperature.
Packaging / Packaging Material
As packaging, foam products protect against transport damage caused by vibrations and impacts. PE foam is used in industry, trade, trade fair construction, and for both commercial and private removals. Foam film serves as wrapping, cushioning material, and filling material. Its dense, closed surface provides additional protection against moisture, dirt, and dust. The soft and elastic surface is particularly suitable for products with sensitive surfaces. As a scratch protection, foam film is widely used for packaging products with painted, coated, and polished surfaces.
Its main purpose—preventing product damage—is in demand across countless industries and products. For example, products made of glass, porcelain, mirrors, clay, plastic, wood, metal, and more are packaged in PE foam. PE foam can be used as a lining for cardboard and moving boxes, as an intermediate layer for pallets, and as a wrapping material for products. It also serves as a replacement for roll corrugated cardboard. Another outstanding property of PE foam is its extremely light weight. This feature not only ensures low transport costs when shipping parcels but also contributes to a very good ecological balance, as it generates minimal packaging waste.
Impact Sound Insulation
PE foam film is also used as impact sound insulation in the construction sector. Whether for parquet, laminate, cork, or vinyl flooring, impact sound insulation made of PE foam is the ideal underlay for these floor coverings.
Foam film made from polyethylene is completely dust-free, moisture-proof, and moisture-repellent. It is also very easy to process, as it can be welded, cut, and stamped with ease.

What Is the Recyclability of PE Foam?
All products made from LDPE and HDPE can be recycled multiple times without any issues. Polyethylene products have been efficiently recycled for many decades. Used products are shredded, washed, remelted, and processed into new granulate. These recycled granulates can then be used to create new products such as garbage bags, construction films, and more. This closed-loop cycle makes polyethylene one of the most ecological and sustainable materials available.
Shipping and Transport of Foam Film Products
Foam packaging is relatively bulky and can be more challenging to ship compared to other products. To address this, we have developed special roll sizes that allow even smaller quantities to be shipped affordably and conveniently via parcel service. Larger rolls and bulk quantities are shipped cost-effectively through a freight carrier.
