What is bubble wrap?
Bubble wrap is an elastic film covered with bubbles that contain air. These bubbles create a protective cushion that protects fragile goods during storage and transport.
What material is bubble wrap made of?
Bubble wrap is made from polyethylene. This environmentally friendly material can be recycled by making new polyethylene products out of it again and again. If your customers return the bubble wrap to the cycle in the right way, they are using bubble wrap sustainably and with the protection of the environment in mind. Probably the biggest advantage of polyethylene is its very high tear resistance and stability. In addition, bubble wrap does not allow moisture to pass through and is also dustproof.
What can bubble wrap be used for?
If you thought that bubble wrap could only be used for packaging, you're mistaken. Among other things, bubble wrap can also be used for other applications such as:
Greenhouse insulation
Bubble wrap has become popular in the greenhouses of professional and amateur gardeners for protecting plants from winter temperatures. The plants are even better protected if you stretch the film over the existing greenhouse or grid film. This is because the bubble wrap is much better at retaining and insulating heat from the sun. The same trick can also be used to protect potted plants during winter. For optimal insulation you need a three-layer film and 30 mm bubbles. This optimises the insulation function.
Window insulation
A three-layer bubble wrap can help you with smaller house projects, in the garden and during shell construction as temporary window insulation.
Aircraft modelling
Modelling enthusiasts like to use aluminium or PET-laminated bubble wrap to protect sensitive individual parts such as propellers or rotor blades. The film protects against intense sunlight and protects the individual parts during transport.
Garden pool
Bubble wrap can also be used to insulate swimming pools in the garden. In the evening, when it gets cool, stretch the film over the pool to keep the water warm. This also saves energy as you don't have to heat the water constantly.
How thick does the bubble wrap need to be for transporting goods?
We offer bubble films in many different thicknesses from 50 my to 250 my. The most popular film thickness in Germany is between 50 and 80 my and with these bubble wrap you can sufficiently protect your sensitive products such as crockery or porcelain.
Sometimes, however, more sensitive products are involved. In this case, you should use bubble wrap with at least 100 my and large bubbles. This will ensure that your goods reach their destination safely.
Is bubble wrap food-safe?
Yes, our bubble wrap is food-safe. It is made from LDPE film, which does not emit any chemicals or microplastics. This means that the bubble wrap may come into direct contact with food. The film can only be used in cleanrooms to a limited extent, as we cannot rule out the possibility of tiny particles from the value creation process adhering to the film.
