What are paper bags?
Paper bags (also called paper carrier bags) are flat bags made of paper and are an inexpensive and ecological packaging made from renewable raw materials. The environmentally friendly and unprinted flat paper bags are ideal for bakery and butchery products. They are the classic among paper bags. The food-safe brown kraft paper bags are suitable for both sweet and savoury products. The paper bags are the ecological alternative made from renewable raw materials.
Are paper bags food-safe?
The environmentally friendly brown paper bags are all food-safe. They are therefore suitable for the transport and storage of food such as sweets, snacks, coffee beans, tea leaves, bread, pastries, dried fruit and much more. The sturdy paper bags enable quick packaging and excellent handling.
Are paper bags biodegradable?
Not all paper bags are biodegradable. It depends on the type of paper used to make the bag, as well as the type of coating or inks used in printing. Some flat paper bags have a coating or film to make them more resistant to moisture or oils. Such coatings can affect the biodegradation of the paper and are not considered biodegradable. Our bags are made from uncoated paper and are therefore biodegradable. Uncoated paper is generally more biodegradable than coated paper. It can usually be completely decomposed within three to six months when stored under suitable conditions such as sufficient moisture and heat.
Please note: biodegradable paper bags are not always the best choice when it comes to reducing environmental impact. Paper bags require the use of raw materials, water and energy in their production and can have a negative impact on the environment if they are not properly disposed of or recycled. It is recommended to consider the different environmental impacts of paper bags and consider alternative solutions such as reusable bags or containers to reduce waste and minimise environmental impact!
How robust are paper bags and can they carry heavy objects?
The strength of paper bags depends on the type of paper, the thickness and the capacity, but generally paper bags are robust enough to carry heavy items. There are special paper bags that are designed for transporting heavy items such as food or drinks. These are often made of thicker, reinforced paper or have an additional supporting layer made of paper or plastic.
However, it is important to note that paper bags often have a lower load capacity compared to plastic bags and can tear more quickly if loaded too heavily. It is therefore recommended to check the weight and volume of the contents to be packed in advance and select the appropriate paper bag. Paper bags can also be damaged by sharp or sharp-edged objects, which is why plastic bags should be preferred for these products.

Are paper bags waterproof or water-repellent?
Paper bags are generally water-resistant, but not completely waterproof. Most paper bags have a coating or film to make them more resistant to moisture or oils. These coatings are usually not strong enough to make the bag completely waterproof. If the flat kraft paper bags come into contact with water or moisture for a long time, they can deform or soften and impair their stability and load-bearing capacity. For this reason, paper bags are not ideal for transporting or storing wet or damp items.
